Terms of use

These Terms of use govern access to InklyResearch (the “Service”) at inklyresearch.com. By creating an account, checking that you accept these Terms and the Privacy policy during signup, or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

InklyResearch is research writing software for students, researchers, educators, and labs. It includes a manuscript editor, data and analysis tools, figures, a citation library, collaboration features, and exports (such as DOCX, PDF, and LaTeX helpers).

You must be at least 16 years old, able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction, and provide accurate account information. If you use the Service on behalf of an institution or lab, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms for that use.

Accounts use email and password authentication. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials confidential. Notify us promptly at shachakr@gmail.com if you believe your account was accessed without authorization. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms or pose a security risk.

To close your account and request deletion of associated project data, contact shachakr@gmail.com. See the Privacy policy for how we handle retention.

The Service offers a Free plan and paid plans (Student, Researcher, and Lab). Plan limits, prices, and features are described on the Pricing page and may change over time.

• Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you also agree to Stripe’s terms for payment processing.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
• You can manage payment methods, invoices, plan changes, renewals, and cancellations through the Stripe customer portal linked from your Account billing settings.
• If you cancel, you typically keep paid-plan access until the end of the paid period, then move to Free (or lose paid features) according to your subscription status.
• Failed payments may put your subscription past due and can limit access until payment succeeds.
• Lab or institutional invoice billing may be arranged separately. Contact us for quotes.

Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law or where we state otherwise in writing.

You retain ownership of datasets, manuscripts, figures, citations, uploaded files, and other materials you create or upload (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited license to host, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate the Service for you—for example storing files, running in-product analyses, rendering documents, syncing linked values, exporting files you request, and enabling collaboration you initiate.

You represent that you have the rights needed to upload Your Content and that doing so does not violate applicable law or third-party rights, including privacy, confidentiality, human-subjects, and research ethics rules that apply to your work. Do not upload regulated health data, identifiable human-subjects data, or other restricted research materials unless you are authorized to do so and the Service is appropriate for that data under your institution’s rules.

When you invite others to a project or Lab, you control who can view or edit that content according to the roles you grant. Invites may be sent by email to addresses you provide. You are responsible for the people you invite and for any content they add. Collaborators must also follow these terms.

Live co-editing may use a separate collaboration server so multiple people can edit at once. Project data stored in the Service remains the source of truth when documents are saved.

We may send transactional emails related to your account—such as email verification, password reset, project or Lab invites, access request notices, and billing notices. These are part of operating the Service.

• Do not attempt to break, scrape, or overload the Service.
• Do not upload malware, unlawful content, or content you are not allowed to share.
• Do not use the Service to misrepresent research results or to violate institutional policies that apply to you.
• Do not share account credentials or circumvent plan limits in a way that abuses the Service.
• Do not probe, reverse engineer, or disrupt infrastructure that hosts the Service, including collaboration or storage systems.

Statistical results, figure generation, citation formatting, linked values, and export formats are tools to support your writing. Analyses run as part of the Service; you remain responsible for verifying methods, numbers, citations, and submissions. InklyResearch is not a substitute for statistical consultation, institutional review, academic advising, or legal advice.

We may modify features, suspend access for maintenance or abuse, or update these terms. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised terms. If a change to paid plans materially reduces features you already paid for in the current period, we will try to honor that period or offer a reasonable alternative.

The Service depends on third-party infrastructure (hosting, database, file storage, email, payments, and optional live collaboration). We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” without warranties of uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular purpose. InklyResearch and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service, including lost data, missed deadlines, billing disputes beyond amounts you paid us in the three months before a claim, or publication outcomes.
